It is also the most important municipal transportation route. River transportation is still to be developed and it will reach its full potential after finalizing the construction of a marina and a pontoon pier for bigger boats and yachts near the town center. The closest airport is “Nikola Tesla” Airport in Belgrade.

Golubac is municipality in northeast Serbia, on the right side of the Danube. Its western parts spread over Pannonia rim while its east parts reach slopes of the North Kucaj Mountains. Distance from main cities and hubs: Belgrade – 130 km; Pozarevac – 50 km; Veliko Gradiste – 19km and Smederevo – 80 km. The nearest border crossing is in Veliko Gradiste, 19 km away, and there is also a border crossing in Kladovo, 120 km away from Golubac. According to 2002 census, population has been 9.913 in 24 municipal settlements. With population of 1.896, municipal center is town Golubac situated on the bank of the Danube River.
